In the province of Brescia in the afternoon the wind blew at 130 kilometers per hour for about an hour. Some roofs of houses and public structures in the province have been uncovered. Some trees in the street fell on parked cars and in some areas of the city the streets, even in the historic center, turned into rivers of mud because of the clogged manholes. Numerous calls to firefighters, but no injuries were recorded.

The weather forecast

Because of the storm tomorrow and Monday all the cemeteries of the city will be closed, because structural checks are underway inside the cemeteries. This was decided by the mayor of Brescia, Emilio Del Bono. Funeral services will be guaranteed on Monday, but with limited access to relatives of the deceased. A real river of water poured on the provincial road between San Paolo d’Argon and Albano Sant’Alessandro, in the province of Bergamo, the water brought with it debris and mud, which caused the closure of the road in both directions due to landslide. Flooding also on the former provincial road, always in the same area, caused the road to tilt both towards Trescore and towards Bergamo.

Bad weather also affected South Tyrol: heavy rains and thunderstorms caused a landslide in San Vigilio di Marebbe on a road leading to a refuge, but there were no victims or injuries, because the landslide did not touch the center inhabited. Mudslides also in San Leonardo in Passiria, Vipiteno and Chiusa. The roads have become streams in Val lagarina and in Rovereto, where the firefighters have had to carry out fifteen operations.

Coldiretti raises the alarm for the effects of bad weather in the countryside in the middle of the harvest season. “Hail – observes the association – is the most feared in this seasonal phase for the irreversible damage it causes to crops in the fields, with the loss of an entire year of work”.A midsummer storm which, continues the note by Coldiretti, “confirms the tendency to tropicalization, which manifests itself with a high frequency of extreme events with violent manifestations, seasonal phase shifts, short and intense rainfall and the rapid passage from the sun to bad weather, with significant temperature changes “.
