A 17-year-old boy died today in Australia after being attacked by a shark while surfing.
The tragedy that occurred along the east coast of the country, in front of Wooli beach, 630 km north of Sydney, the police of New South Wales announced in a statement. Numerous surfers gave assistance before the injured teenager could be brought ashore, the police explained in the note, adding that – despite attempts to revive him – the boy who died on the site.
He is the fifth person in the country who has lost his life since the beginning of the year following a shark attack. The death of the 17-year-old comes a week after that of a 36-year-old attacked by a shark while spearfishing near the Fraser island, about 700 kilometers north of Wooli beach.
