Readers return to the shelves of Milan’s libraries. In addition to the online booking services, collection of the reserved books and return on site, the Milanese library system has also recently reactivated the “open shelf”: direct access to the collections on display, so as to allow readers to browse and choose books and multimedia without the obligatory mediation of the catalog. By the end of this week, 16 libraries with this service will be active and the remaining neighborhood libraries will be added next week. During the month of July the reading rooms will also gradually reopen, to access which, based on current legislation, it will be necessary to book.
The way to book appointments from today is simpler thanks to the Affluences app, which can be freely downloaded and used in all locations, for the registration of appointments relating to already active services, and for those that will be activated in the coming weeks. Also accessible via the web, Affluences does not require any registration and in a few steps it allows you to choose the date and time to show up at the library.
Not only that: the Bibliobus service was also reactivated, which from Monday to Saturday, from 9 to 12.30, resumed service in the various districts of the city.
