Trentino, father and son injured by a bear in the woods of Mount Peller

TRENTO – He was walking along a path when he found himself face to face with a bear. Fallen to the ground, he was surmounted by the animal and at that point the reaction of his father, who followed him a few meters away, was to hurl himself against the plantigrade, suffering from a fractured leg in several places. This is how the 59-year-old man and his 28-year-old man walked along a path of Monte Peller, in Torosi, Trentino, to the hospital, medicated and hospitalized. A very different encounter than that which happened to a ten-year-old boy, always in Trentino, which ended a few weeks ago without accidents and whose behavior was taken as an example by the experts on the right way to behave when crossing a bear.

Now the two are hospitalized, the father has suffered fractures and
deep wounds but is not life threatening while the child who suffered more superficial injuries did better. In the ward they were joined by the provincial councilor Giulia Zanotelli and by the forest rangers who also inspected the place of the episode to collect the elements necessary to accurately reconstruct its dynamics.

With the M49 bear, the one that made the author of a daring escape in July last year, there are currently about ninety plantigrades in circulation in Trentino, numerous also in Abruzzo where in the past months a mother bear with puppies has been spotted.
