Tommasi resigns as AIC president. ‘There is a need for a unique voice’ – Football


Tommasi resigned from the position of president of the Italian Football Association during today’s meeting of the Board of Directors.
The lawyer Umberto Calcagno, deputy vice president, will assume the statutory functions until the date of the next elections.
The Board addressed Tommasi the most sincere thanks for the work done in these years, underlining the commitment, seriousness and dedication with which he represented the category of footballers.

“Today, with the resignation from the position of councilor and President of the AIC, a path that began with my entry into the Board of Directors back in 1999 ends for me. It was not at all easy in 2011 to take the baton from Sergio Campana, after 43 years of history. There were many complicated moments and we came out with the union and the teamwork “: so Tommasi in the note announcing the resignation from AIC. “Our Association needs union and a unique voice – he continues – In the last period it has not always been so and for this reason it is good that there are no differences inside the control cabin in view of the next appointments”.
