Fabian Hinz, a researcher at the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies, a California-based non-governmental organization that studies the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, told the New York Times that “Parchin is the largest explosives production site in Iran”, and that the construction of nuclear weapons had previously been planned at the base.
In 2014 there was another explosion at the base but at the time the government forbade access to the inspectors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
Video shows a massive explosion east of Tehran near the sprawling parchin military base which is Iran’s main missile production facility & once played a role in Iran’s nuclear program. Authorities say they are investigating the cause of the explosion. pic.twitter.com/GsKfnPHqpt
