The leader of Al Qaida in Maghreb killed in Mali – La Stampa

The Algerian Abdelmalek Droukdal, considered the leader of Al Qaeda in the Maghreb, was killed by French forces in northern Mali, near the Algerian border: the French Defense Minister, Florence Parly, announced on Twitter, confirming advances reached to the AFP. Believed to be a historic Jihad leader in the Maghreb and in command of several Saharan jihadist groups, Droukdal was killed yesterday, Thursday, northwest of the city of Thessalit.

“Several of his collaborators have been” equally “neutralized,” added the minister.
