On Thursday evening the government approved the “Family Act”, a bill – which must therefore be approved by Parliament to become effective – which provides for various economic support measures for families. The main promoter of the bill is the Minister of Equal Opportunities Elena Bonetti, who explained the contents of the proposal at a press conference: among others, a monthly universal check that should be paid from the seventh month of pregnancy until the age of 18 years of age of the child (there are no age limits for disabled children).

In another of the most important points, the Family Act provides for a reform of parental leave which establishes a minimum of ten mandatory paternity days. Then there are a series of measures that, says the government, will encourage and protect the work of women mothers, as well as bonuses for kindergarten fees and for the use of babysitters.
