There Electronic Identity Card is finally available on all mobile devices. After landing on Android, in fact, the service is now also available on iOS and is therefore present on all smartphones of the latest generations. The news was provided by the Italian State Printing and Mint Institute, which in the news section wrote that “now with the Electronic Identity Card (CIE) it is possible to access online services also from smartphones with iOS operating system” .
How to insert the Electronic Identity Card on the smartphone
To insert your Electronic Identity Card on your smartphone you need three elements:
- a latest-generation Identity Card
- the 8-digit PIN, of which 4 delivered to the card application and 4 received with the card
- app CieID installed on the smartphone [Download: iOS – Android]
The application works optimally on all smartphones with NFC interface and, once the operation is complete, by accessing the service of interest through a Chrome browser on the device, authentication can be carried out easily using the Electronic Identity Card.
What CieID is used for and on which devices it can be used
The authentication operation can be performed through the key “Enter with CIE”, present on all enabled services: by pressing the button you will be redirected to CieID, which will ask for the insertion of the second part of the PIN and the card to be moved to the mobile device. The app, therefore, is configured as an alternative for access to PA services, and not only, such as through PosteID or SPID. The only requirement is the availability of an NFC enabled module on the smartphone.
On Android, therefore, you need to own one smartphones with NFC and Android 6.0 or later, while on iOS all iPhones from iPhone 7 onwards are compatible. We list them below: iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR, iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max and iPhone SE 2020. In any case it is necessary to have installed iOS 13 for the operation of the new CieID service.
