Swim in the sea without fear of contagion. Here is the guide of the Higher Institute of Health

Bathing activity report on the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus has been published. For ISS, the risk of being infected in water is negligible. On the beaches, however, the distancing remains and the prohibitions for parties and dances

COSENZA – You can swim in the sea without fear of getting infected. Reassurance comes from the Higher Institute of Health (ISS) in ‘Bathing activity report in relation to the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 ′ virus (READ HERE). The first plan published today on the ISS website explains that “the risk related to the potential contamination of water is of little importance from infected wastewater or excretes upstream of the bathing area or spread by boats. The environmental and health control and monitoring measures applied on the basis of current legislation, in fact, but also the susceptibilitỳ of the virus to environmental variables make the risk negligible ”. Assemblies, parties, musical events, if not just listening, are prohibited on the beach.

Indications and rules for bathers and establishments

The access to the equipped facilities requires a reservation, while for free beaches, where surveillance is difficult to perform, mayors and other local authorities are called upon to apply risk reduction measures. Among other indications for bathing establishments and bathers it is recommended: to use signs and posters with the behavioral rules for users of bathing areas and swimmers to prevent and control risks – also understandable for users of other nationalities;
of regulate access and movement on the beaches, also through dedicated paths, and arrange the equipment, so as to guarantee interpersonal distancing in all circumstances; guarantee interpersonal distancing of at least 1 meter between people not belonging to the same family, in all circumstances, even during bathing; check body temperaturewhere possible, of personnel and swimmers with access ban if this is higher than 37.5 ° C, prohibit any form of aggregation that can create gatherings, such as, among other things, dance activities, parties, social events, buffet tastings and prohibit musical events with the sole exception of those exclusively for “listening” with seated positions that guarantee interpersonal distancing.

Yet, regularly clean, at least daily, the various surfaces, the cabin furnishings and common areas and regularly and frequently sanitize equipment (chairs, deck chairs, beds, including floating equipment and boats), materials, objects and toilets, limiting the use of structures (single shower cubicles, changing rooms) for which it is possible to ensure a disintermediate infection between promiscuous uses; never treat beaches, soils, beaches or natural environments with biocidal products; avoid the promiscuous use of any beach equipment; equip swimmers with hand hygiene disinfectants; provide adequate disinfectants and PPE to personnel (masks, face shields, gloves) and mandatory use of PPE in case of close contact with swimmers and activities at risk.

Disclosure and surveillance on free beaches is difficult to practice. Therefore, in this context sthe auditors and / or other competent local authorities have been called upon to apply all appropriate measures aimed at guaranteeing risk reduction conditions and, where necessary, defining surveillance activities on the respect of the measures by the users of the beaches, regulating access to allow interpersonal distancing, identifying the sanitization procedures of the equipment and common areas .
