The Bottle Tree Ranch west of Helendale, California, his best-known work remains, a milestone of Route 66.

Hundreds of birds live in some of Elmer’s creations, their sounds combined with the tinkling of trees transport anyone to an ethereal world in the heart of the road that most of all embodies the myth of the American dream.
