Rolls-Royce “Inspiring Greatness”, it’s up to Cory Richards

From the meeting between Rolls-Royce and the award-winning photographer and explorer of National Geographic, Cory Richards, the latest film of the “Inspiring Greatness” series was created by the “Spirt of ecstasy” brand.
The video explores Richards’ insights into risk-taking and the pursuit of perfection, an affinity he feels he shares with Rolls-Royce and the brand’s “Global center of luxury manufacturing excellence” at Goodwood.
Richards’ life has been quite “eventful”, ranging from a difficult childhood to climbing Everest without the use of supplemental oxygen, and his photography has taken him all over the world, from the peaks of Antarctica and Nepal Himalayas to the forgotten war zones of Angola, Uganda and Pakistan.
In 2011 he climbed the Gasherbrum II of Pakistan, thus becoming the only American, and one of the few, to conquer the 8,000 meters in winter while risking to lose his life due to an avalanche that surprised him during the descent (of which he took a photo of him immediately after the event).

In 2018, Richards participated in “The Final Challenge”, a tour of some of the most remote areas of Scotland, the United Arab Emirates and the United States of America with a camouflaged Rolls-Royce Cullinan SUV, engaged in the most extreme tests for demonstrate its great abilities on all types of terrain.
Richards documented Cullinan’s challenge as he embarked on these final tests before his world debut in May 2018.
“Cory Richards is an extraordinary person – said Torsten Müller-Ötvös, CEO of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars – His ability behind the lens is unquestionably inspirational. The Final Challenge, which documents Cullinan’s last grueling test phase, was a historic episode in the history of Rolls-Royce and we are very happy that it was captured by such a remarkable and talented photographer. “

“Everything I do is guided by taking risks – stressed Cory Richards – If we don’t take risks, we don’t fail, and when we don’t fail, we don’t learn. Rolls-Royce, for me, occupies a space that resonates in terms of perfection, where there is an unrivaled attention to detail. There is the will to take time to create something that has no equal and that encourages us to dream of what we can achieve. “
The film, along with the other videos in the Inspiring Greatness series dedicated to Refik Anadol, Esther Mahlangu and Rankin, are available on the official website of the Goodwood house (M.R.)
