Rayshard Brooks, the autopsy: killed by two shots. The agent risks the death penalty

The consequences in the police

The local prosecutor’s office is considering the charges against the agent. The event, captured in three different videos, led to the resignation of the chief of police, Erika Shields; et al dismissal of the agent who shot, identified as Garrett Rolfe; the agent who accompanied him, Devin Bronsan, was transferred to office work. (Brooks, the killed man) did not appear to pose a threat to anyone. The fact that the incident escalated enough to provoke his death seems irrational, Paul Howard, the district attorney for Fulton County, where Atlanta is located, told CNN. Howard, whose office is investigating the accident, said he would announce whether to incriminate Agent Garrett Rolfe around Wednesday, explaining that it is possible to accuse him of three possible crimes.

Crime hypotheses for the policeman

The first is the murder, according to Georgia law, the most serious because it implies an intentionality; the second murder during the commission of a crime and the third voluntary murder. According to the Georgia penal code, the first two charges involve the possible death sentence or life imprisonment; while the third can carry up to 20 years in prison. One of the factors that Howard will consider is the autopsy result from the Fulton County coroner’s office, which confirmed that Brooks died of murder: the young man received two gunshot wounds to his back and died of damage to organs and blood loss. On Sunday a group of about ten people gathered for hours in the place where Brooks died, the parking lot of a fast food restaurant, set on fire on Saturday evening and of which only the outer walls remain.
