Peugeot 3008: the next generation will also be electric | Rumor


The time for renewal is approaching for the Peugeot 3008. The next generation this model will be built from 2022 on the Sochaux site. According to a series of reports coming from France, it seems that the brand is working to propose a 100% electric version which will join the hybrid ones. According to what is learned, the new EMP2 V4 platform which thanks to a series of modifications will be able to accommodate battery-powered vehicles, Plug-in hybrids and Mild Hybrid.

Not much is known about the technical specifications of the powertrain of the future battery-powered SUV. The PSA Group today uses an electric motor from 136 HP (100 kW) for its models. It is possible that it will be chosen again but the SUV has an important size and in terms of power, this unit may be undersized. There is talk, in fact, of a new more powerful version. To find out more, we will have to wait for new information to shed light on Peugeot’s electrical projects for its future 3008.

Within the same production site, the Opel Grandland X will also be built. Speaking briefly of the hybrid versions, the report says they should have one 7-speed e-DCT transmission result of the joint venture with Punch Powertrain. It seems that there will also be news on the engine. The current 1.6 liters could be replaced by a specific version of the 1.2 PureTech.
