Without any notice from Microsoft and obviously without giving any sign of failure, through a press release we learn that the streaming platform owned by the Redmond house will definitively close on July 22nd. Mixer in recent years had been born as a worthy rival of Twitch, now in the hands of Amazon for a few years. There has always been a rivalry not always optimally hidden, you will surely remember the events that led the famous Ninja to leave the purple site to streamm exclusively on Mixer, after a contract to which he could not actually refuse.
It seems, however, that all that has been done in these years will serve very little given the news of the last minutes through the press release that you can find at this address. Inside the long letter it is explained that the platform needs a lot of support and that at the moment it is not possible to work intensively on it, given the great vision focused on titles by Microsoft, that’s why it was decided to move completely there Mixer community within a new platform, Facebook Gaming.
In fact, a partnership has been announced within the same letter that will allow all content creators not to lose their fans and to move almost painlessly within the new Facebook platform. At the moment there is no more information about itbut above all we still do not know how all those streamers who have signed a contract with Mixer to give the exclusivity of their “products” will take this news.
Surely a great media fuss can be expected which at this point, will have to be managed in a more than adequate way by Microsoft, which until a year ago believed blindly in the power of its platform and how it allowed to create a strong community . What do you think of Microsoft’s move and in your opinion how the great Mixer stars will react? Let us know with a comment under this article.
