Apps and services for video calls and remote work organization have seen strong growth in users during the last months of the pandemic and lockdown. These include Microsoft Teams, which now it allows the creation of meetings also for users with a free account.
Meetings within Microsoft Teams they are group calls with video and audio support. Among the functions useful for teamwork we find the possibility to share your screen, documents, presentations and has an integrated chat that allows participants to communicate easily.
Until now, the only ones who were able to organize and create meetings were premium users, with free users who could only attend meetings created from a paid profile. Starting on June 2nd however, according to OnMFST colleagues, the Redmond company would have started in make available to all Microsoft Teams users with a free account scattered around the world the possibility to create and manage meetings through its own platform.
The function would be gradually rollout, so expect to receive the possibility of creating group video calls in the next few days or at most in the next few weeks. When room creation becomes available, within the Microsoft Teams software a button will appear in the left bar called precisely “Meeting”. From this tab it will be possible plan future meetings or click the “Meet Now” button to instantly start a meeting.
Although it is still limited compared to the paid version, the free version of Microsoft Teams has been continuously improving since its launch in 2018 and many useful functions have been integrated over time, such as the possibility of “raising your hand” virtually in case of need to speak during a video call.
