France, complex funeral rites discovered 30,000 years ago: Italian researchers also involved in the study

In the Paleolithic cave of Cussac, in the French region of Dordogne, a group of researchers from the University of Bordeaux, including some Italians, discovered complex funeral rites dating back to almost 30 thousand years ago. The research, published in recent days by the prestigious American scientific journal PNAS (Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America), reveals a funerary behavior previously unknown in prehistory: the Paleolithic hunter-gatherers laid their dead in the depths of the earth, inside the depressions created by cave bears when they hibernated.
