Historic turn for the new stadium, here we are. Rangnick, all ready

A fundamental step forward for the construction of the new Milan and Inter Milan stadium came with yesterday’s meeting at Palazzo Marino. The two clubs have adhered to the indications of the municipality of Milan for the construction of the new district of San Siro with a reduced volumetric index. It was the last major obstacle to be overcome, the major knot that led to opposing positions over the months, but which was resolved yesterday. Significant progress has been made in the development of the project presented by the clubs for the refunctionalisation of the current Giuseppe Meazza facility and the creation of a Sports and Entertainment District in San Siro with a reduced volumetric index equivalent to 145 thousand square meters. This proposal was conceived in order to implement the indications of the Council and the City Council and maintaining technical and economic-financial sustainability for a new stadium and a sports district of absolute international avant-garde.

What are the two clubs pointing to? To an urban regeneration intervention with a sports connotation, accessible 365 days a year, also dedicated to grassroots sports, a cultural and innovative “hub” for the new generations, at the forefront of environmental impact, inclusiveness and sustainability; a safe aggregation center, open to social and recreational activities in the neighborhood.

It has come to this point thanks to a step backwards by Milan and Inter on the volumes. The updated feasibility study will provide for a significant reduction in the accessory volumes both with respect to the initial proposal and with respect to the refurbishment of the Meazza stadium envisaged in April 2020. The cost of refunctionalization of the Meazza, equal to approximately 74 million euros according to the estimate of the teams, would lead to a maximum building index of 0.51 m2 / m2, equivalent to 145 thousand m2 of SL.

In the coming weeks, we will proceed with the rest of the bureaucratic process to try to shake up a project that Elliott cares about. For American ownership, everything revolves around the construction of the new facility and may be a turning point for the future of the AC Milan club. Great satisfaction for Milan, which now sees the milestone one step after months of discussions and problems.

In the meantime, Milan won in Lecce and got excellent indications, but the Rossoneri’s world is projected to the next vintage when the real revolution will take place with the advent of Ralf Rangnick. The manager coach is ready, he is already working on track in negotiations and future operations to be closed at the end of the championship. The announcement will only come when Milan’s season is over. On the market we are looking for international players, physically and athletically strong, able to withstand even the hard training that the German manager carries out in his clubs. These are also important days for the definition of his staff, who will be numerous because he will want to have eyes everywhere in the club. Young people of great perspective, perhaps some unknown name that has not yet emerged in the media, but Rangnick is ready to start this huge challenge.
