GOVERNMENT PLAN

The heart of the provision is the doubling from 3 thousand to 6 thousand euros of the federal contribution to the purchase of pure electric vehicles (BEV) or plug-in hybrids (PHEV) with a list price of up to 40 thousand euros. Non-draft hybrid cars are excluded (mild hybrid and full hybrid)

It’s not what the builders asked for, but it’s still a big green mobility incentive plan. The maxi-package of stimuli of 130 billion agreed on Wednesday evening between the two partners of the German government indeed contains a formidable boost to the development of electric cars. While leaving petrol and diesel vehicles out. It penalizes SUVs, with a tax commensurate with CO2 emissions.

The heart of the provision is the doubling from 3 thousand to 6 thousand euros of the federal contribution to the purchase of pure electric vehicles (BEV) or plug-in hybrids (PHEV) with a list price of up to 40 thousand euros. Hybrid non-draft cars (mild hybrid and full hybrid) and all internal combustion ones are excluded. If you add to these contributions the 3 thousand euros made available by car manufacturers, you get a discount of 9 thousand euros, which brings the price of a draft car to competitive levels with many traditional rivals.

Premium models out of incentives

Who will benefit from it? Premium brands like Audi, BMW (except the i3), Mercedes and Tesla are in all likelihood cut off for some models. The Model 3 – the cheapest model in the Elon Musk range – starts from a list price in Germany of 43,990 euros and therefore the American company should apply a substantial discount to be included in the incentives (in China, however, it did). Certainly excluding models such as the Mercedes EQC (from 71,590 euros) and the Audi E-Tron (from 69,900 euros), while with a slight adjustment of the price list, the Volvo Xc40 Recharge in the full electric and plug-in hybrid versions could be included. The electric Mini and the Honda E. come back

Even the premium models, however, will enjoy the extension of the tax relief for the electric company fleets, which has been enlarged from vehicles up to 40 thousand euros to those up to 60 thousand euros in price.

Which models are included in the incentives

On the contrary, they are certainly included in the cheapest car discounts such as the Kia e-Niro (from 34,290 euros), the Peugeot e-208 (from 36,600 euros), the different twins like the Opel Corsa and above all the hostess, the ID .3 from Volkswagen which marks the biggest bet on electrification ever made by the Wolfsburg house. Obviously the cheaper models such as Smart (from this year only electric) and the lithium-ion versions of the twin Vw Up, Seat Mii and Skoda Citigo that cost about 25 thousand euros are included.
