Going back to life: the solidarity fund. #NoiConGliInfermieri in support of nurses affected by Covid-19. The new campaign #NonChiamateciEroi is starting.
Domenico Exercise he has been a nurse for almost 30 years, a freelance healthcare professional. He has lived in Bergamo since adolescence, here he studied to become a nurse and here he built his professional and private life. He was one of the first professionals to apply for support from the fund #NoiConGliInfermieri, launched and funded by National Federation of Orders of Nursing Professions (FNOPI) to support all professionals hit hard by the pandemic.
“I fell ill the night between 14 and 15 March 2020, after a week of intense work in the Covid-19 department of Humanitas Gavazzeni in Bergamo. I had taken up a service in the health facility a week before, transferred from Humanitas Castelli together with colleagues from 9 Coop, my cooperative “says Domenico.
«From March 15th I entered the tunnel Covid and I waited until May 4 to get out of it, to go back to live, to work: the infinite quarantine at home with my family, my partner and our two teenage children separated in the different rooms of the house; fifty days of fever, pain and exhaustion; fifty days without working, with profound uncertainty about my future and the future of my family. In those days of imprisonment I felt the need to have a comfort, it was in fact difficult to manage the emotions and the worries: fortunately the Order of Bergamo made available to me and available to the sick nurses a psychological support to manage also the mental aspect of the disease. ”
Over 3 million have so far been collected by the National Nursing Federation through the platform www.noicongliinfermieri.org and, after due verification of the adequacy of the many requests received, the funds are already available to Domenico and the nurses affected by the virus and now in rehabilitation; those in quarantine away from home; of families of the deceased due to the virus.
«My application has been accepted and I will be able to access the fund: thanks to FNOPI I have been granted a daily flat-rate contribution of 100 euros for all the days when I was sick and in quarantine. The arrival of the official communication from Rome represented a moment of great happiness: I understood that I was not and I am not alone “.
Domenico is among the 300 professionals who have submitted applications for financial aid to the Federation: for this reason, it is necessary to further increase the collection throughout the year because the funds raised are used to meet different needs. For this reason, in support of the collection on social networks, a new campaign “#NonChiamateciEroi: we are professionals and we are people who now need all of you” starts today.
