MORE THAN A RESTYLING – At first glance it may seem like an ordinary mid-career update, but the Hyundai Santa Fe which will arrive in dealerships after the summer of 2020of the current maintains the bodywork and part of the interior. In fact, the platform is completely new and made its debut last year on the Sonata sedan, not sold in Europe: an expensive and not very popular type of update, the latest example of which is represented by Discovery Sport, which Land Rover has renewed a few months ago (here his first contact). The reasons are economic and technological: the production lines are rationalized and the electrification of the engines can be exploited efficiently, already foreseen here during the design phase. In fact, the new Hyundai Santa Fe will also be offered in a hybrid and plug-in version. In addition, thanks to the new platform, the house also declares improvements in aerodynamics and for protection in the event of an impact.

UNPUBLISHED LIGHTS – Even with a distracted look it is however impossible to exchange the new one Hyundai Santa Fe for the one listed today: the front grill is more square and incorporates the headlights, which were previously on the sides of the bumper. Characteristics of the daytime running lights above, which ideally descend and end in the projectors themselves. Changes to the rear are less invasive: at the ends the lights continue vertically for a few centimeters in the bumper instead of being flat and are now connected with a red reflective element instead of with a chrome frieze. The 20 ” wheels are also new, which can also be combined with the Luxury package which, for the first time, offers wheel arches and the lower part of the bumper strips to match the rest of the bodywork.

GOODBYE SHIFT LEVER – The interior of the Hyundai Santa Fe, where the 12.3 ” all-digital dashboard debuts. The multimedia system is also new, with a 10.3 ” screen and equipped with the Bluelink online functions (position of the car in real time, opening and closing of locks from apps and more). The central console is no longer vertical but inclined: it integrates the physical controls for the air conditioning and the buttons for the automatic transmission, which take the place of the traditional lever. The Terrain Mode selector is unpublished, which allows you to select the terrain on which the car is moving (mud, snow and more) to allow the electronics to adjust the response of the mechanics. No confirmation yet for engines and transmissions: all details that will be revealed later.
