Covid cancels the parade at the Forums


On the Republic ‘s 74th birthday this year, minor celebrations for the Festa del June 2. Tomorrow, thanks to Covid and the need to avoid gatherings, the annual military parade at the Imperial Forums will not be held, where the Head of State reviews the military forces.
In the morning, the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, will place a laurel wreath in front of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, at the Altare della Patria. And it is easy to imagine that we will have, like last April 25, another poignant and impactful image with the tenant of Colle alone to celebrate the Italian Republic. With this in mind, tomorrow, the main event will be the aerial parade of the Frecce tricolori, which will fly over the skies of the capital, concluding the tour in the country started on May 25th. Today at 6.45 pm there will be a symphonic music concert (not open to the public) inside the Quirinale gardens to remember the victims of Covid-19, with the orchestra of the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma conducted by Maestro Daniele Gatti.

But tomorrow will also be the day of demonstrations organized by the center-right against the government. Giorgia Meloni (Fdi), Matteo Salvini (Lega) and perhaps Silvio Berlusconi (Forza Italia) will be in Piazza del Popolo in the morning to wave a 500 meter long tricolor. In response from the left, “and don’t leave the square to the right”, associations and parties met in Piazzale Tiburtino, in San Lorenzo, from 10 to 13 to celebrate the Republic. In the evening then, from 7 pm, Mattarella will be at the Spallanzani Institute to thank the doctors and nurses on the front line against the epidemic, where a concert will be held in memory of the victims of Covid.
Also in conjunction with the Republic Day, important museums and monuments such as the Ara Pacis, the Markets of Trajan, the Centrale Montemartini, the Museum of Rome in Trastevere, the Gallery of Modern Art, the Museums of Villa Torlonia reopen in Rome , or the Napoleonic Museum. On the same date you can return to visit the archaeological areas of the Imperial Forums.
For the celebrations of the Republic Day, in the area of ​​Piazza Venezia, there will be many changes to the circulation of traffic and buses. In the area, by midnight between today and tomorrow, all vehicles from Piazza Venezia, Via del Plebiscito, Piazza Ara Coeli, Piazza San Marco, Piazza Madonna di Loreto must be removed. Also tomorrow, and from 6 o’clock, ban on transit in via dei Fori Imperiali, between largo Corrado Ricci and piazza Venezia; from 7.30, then, forbidden transit in piazza Venezia, piazza della Madonna di Loreto, via del Teatro Marcello from vico Jugario towards piazza Venezia, in piazza San Marco and piazza Ara Coeli. At the same time, on via del Plebiscito the road network will be changed in two directions. Taxi parking in piazza Madonna di Loreto has been deactivated. Changes also to the circulation of surface buses. For the closure of Piazza Venezia, 7.30 lines H, 30, 40, 44, 46, 51, 60, 62, 63, 64, 70, 80, 81, 83, 85, 87, 118, 160 will be diverted 170, 190, 492, 628, 715, 716, 781 and 916F.
