The coronovirus stops the Hajj, the annual pilgrimage that Muslims are obliged to participate at least once in their lives. The decision was made by Saudi Arabia for all the faithful except for some people – the number was not specified – already residing in the country. The aim is to ensure that the physical spacing rules are respected.

Lo Hajj is the fifth pillar of Islam, it takes place between the eighth and thirteenth day of Dhu l-Hijja, the last month of the Islamic calendar, which in 2020 runs from July 28 to August 2. The final destination of the pilgrimage is the Great Mosque of Mecca, where the Ka’bah is located, a black cubic building located in the center of the large courtyard of the mosque. More than 2 million people from all over the world participate in the Hajj every year.
