Brazil has started to test the coronavirus vaccine developed by the University of Oxford on humans: CNN reports. The tests are carried out in the cities of Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. A total of 3,000 doses will be administered to volunteers aged between 18 and 55 who work in the sectors most at risk. Among them are doctors, nurses and ambulance drivers. The Brazilian health agency (Anvisa) had authorized the pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca to conduct the tests in recent weeks. According to the Federal University of Sao Paulo, the vaccine study could last up to a year. Brazil has recorded 46,860 new coronavirus cases and 990 additional deaths in the past 24 hours: the Ministry of Health has announced, according to CNN reports. The new data bring the overall balance of infections to 1,274,974 and that of deaths to 55,961. The state of Sao Paulo remains the epicenter of the virus with 258,508 cases and 13,966 deaths, followed by the state of Rio de Janeiro (108,497 cases and 9,587 deaths).

INDIA – 500 thousand confirmed cases of coronavirus in India. Official government data show a record daily jump of 18,500 new infections. Authorities reported that 15,685 people have died so far, with an increase of 385 victims in the past 24 hours. The peak of the pandemic is still far away: experts claim that the number of cases could exceed one million before the end of July.
PAKISTAN – Pakistan has registered 3,138 new coronavirus cases and 74 more deaths in the past 24 hours: the Ministry of Health has announced today. The new data bring the overall balance of infections to 198,883 and that of deaths to 4,035. The provinces most affected are Sindh and Punjab, with 76,318 and 72,880 confirmed cases respectively. To date, 86,906 people have healed, of which at least 2,738 in the last 24 hours.
There are 2,712 critically ill patients (36 fewer than in the previous 24 hours).
