A collapse never seen since 1991, when the time series began. The lockdown sinks the industrial production in Germany: -17.9% in April compared to the previous month, as the statistics institute notes Destatis. The indicator indicates it Statistisches Bundesamt, decreased by 25.3% on an annual basis.

The record drop of the European ‘locomotive’ refers – as explained by the Federal Statistical Office, to the period before the easing of measures to contain the coronavirus and was driven by the collapse of the production of auto sector, which signaled a retreat of the 74%.
