closes the Lisbon region again

Cases across the country are on the rise. The government opts for a new closure of the capital. An outbreak breaks out in the Sanctuary of Fatima
The rise of contagions in Portugal has led the government to close the region of Lisbon, the smallest but most populous of the country which in recent days has recorded new outbreaks of coronaviruses (LIVE). Portugal had implemented a lockdown strategy that had proven to be particularly effective, greatly limiting the positives. Now, however, new outbreaks are worrying the government.

Algarve clandestine party: 90 positives

One of these led to 90 cases that erupted following a clandestine party at the Club Deportivo de Odiáxere, in Lagos, in the Algarve. Another important cluster is that of the Sanctuary of Fatima, in the municipality of Ourém, where 16 employees have tested positive for the swab in the last few hours. Across the country, since the beginning of the epidemic, more than 39 thousand cases have been ascertained, with 1,534 deaths. But after the success of the containment strategy, the numbers have started to grow again, with 259 new cases in the last 24 hours. Portugal and Lisbon have been chosen by UEFA as the home of the Champions League Final Eight.
