“The 5 star movement it has always been financed in a transparent way ”. After announcing to sue the newspaper ABC, who today reported the news of an alleged black loan of 3.5 million euros in 2010 to the newborn M5s, Davide Casaleggio intervened with a long blog post on the stars to dismiss the accusations. “We are the only ones who have made all budgets public, even in detail, even before the law required it,” he said. “The 5 Star MoVement has never received hidden funding. The current Venezuelan government has denied fake news. My father never went to Venezuela. The 5 star movement never received public financing. If while he was alive he had the opportunity to defend himself, now that he is gone I will not allow his name to become muddied in any way “.

According to the son of the co-founder of the Movement, it is a fake news published only to have a few more clicks in the newspapers. “I don’t know why a Spanish newspaper tells a fake news on the cover,” he wrote in a post. “I don’t know why the Italian newspapers do not deepen the news in the least discovering, for example, that it was also talked about in recent years, but ended up in nothing like all fake news. I don’t know why after ten years from an event that never happened we talk about it today. I don’t know why you tolerate it the mud on people who are no longer there. I don’t know why Italian newspaper editors publish mud on the front page for just a few clicks. The thirty modern coins are the clicks on your article. It is no longer important if it is true or false, the important thing is that it makes traffic. ”

As regards the funding for the M5s, Casaleggio writes: “The 5 Star Movement spends 10 times less than other political forces and instead of the debts of tens of millions of euros that the parties have (e.g. 99 million Forza Italia, followed by the League with 19 million), has instead returned 107 million to the state with cuts in wages and waivers of public funding. If my father or Beppe had wanted money, they could also have received it legally by accepting not 3, but 42 million euros that the 5 Star MoVement was entitled to receive after the 2013 elections. But they did not, because it was never the money the engine of this movement. Passion and ideas have always driven the movement. ”
