Caltanissetta, I had defended his compatriots from the corporals: 32-year-old Pakistani stabbed to death. “They threatened him, he was worried”

Killed with stab wounds for defending i laborers exploited by the corporals in the countryside between Agrigento and Caltanissetta. Adnan Siddique, 32, had arrived from Pakistan to Italy five years ago, and worked as a maintenance of textile machines in Caltanissetta. According to the carabinieri, his life had changed since he accompanied a compatriot to file a complaint: Adnan knew half the pay never went into the pockets of those who work in the fields, therefore he had decided to help them. From that moment on, a real ordeal would begin for him, made of attacks and threats, until he was hit five times with a blade on June 3 30 cm. Five Pakistanis stopped: four are accused of the crime and another aiding.

The alarm was given by neighbors who heard the cries for help from the man who died shortly after. The same neighbors helped the police to track down some men who had taken refuge in a nearby house: two of them, upon the arrival of the police, their clothes were still stained with blood. Two others, whose faces were taken by the images of the cameras, were stopped the next day in Canicattì. The investigating magistrate Gigi Omar Modica yesterday interrogated the four arrested for the murder: Muhammad Shoaib, 27 years old, Ali Shujaat, 32 years old, Muhammed Bilal, 21 years old, and Imrad Muhammad Cheema, 40 years old, and his compatriot Muhammad Mehdi, 48, arrested for aiding and abetting.

Those who knew him speak of him as one polite, kind personbut also worried about the threats it suffered. “He ended up in the hospital once – says the Di Giugno family, owners of a bar – had beaten him “. Jaral Shehryar, 32-year-old Pakistani, owner of a fruit and vegetable stall, confirms: “He was very good, honest. Those accused of killing him, no. They often got drunk. Sometimes they went to work in the countryside but then spent time getting drunk and partying. ” Adnan had also confided in his cousin, Ahmed Raheel, who lives in Pakistan. “He had defended a person and they threatened him for this reason – he reports – He wanted to go back to Pakistan for a short vacation, we will never see him again. Now we don’t even know how to get the body back to Pakistan. We are poor people, we only ask for justice“.
