Briefcase full of gold bars found abandoned on a train: nobody claims it, it is hunting the owner of the 170 thousand euros

Everyone in life has lost something on a train, a phone, a bag, a book, but surely almost nobody has lost a briefcase full of gold. Instead it is exactly what happened in Switzerland, where last October, on a train between St. Gallen and Lucerne, someone forgot a real treasure in the carriage: a briefcase with inside three kilos of gold for a value of approx 170,000 euros. But the most unique thing is that no one has yet gone to claim the bewilderment.

The find, reported by the BBC, was made public only after efforts by the Swiss authorities to track down the owner were unsuccessful. The owner now has five years to come forward to the Lucerne prosecutor, although it is not clear how the authorities will verify the claims of anyone who presents themselves to claim ownership of the gold.

In these weeks of pandemic we journalists, if we do our job with conscience,
we do a public service. This is also why we are proud every day here at ilfattoquotidiano.it
to offer hundreds of new content for free to all citizens: news, exclusive insights,
expert interviews, surveys, videos and much more. All this work, however, has a great economic cost.
Advertising, in a time when the economy is stagnant, offers limited revenues.
Not in line with the access boom. This is why I ask those who read these lines to support us.
To give us a minimum contribution, equal to the price of a cappuccino per week,
fundamental for our work.
