Sometimes silence is worth a thousand words. In fact, nothing better tells the future of mobility as the contrast between the powerful electric acceleration of the Audi e-tron Sportback and the absence of noise with which the new SUV coup reacts when the accelerator is flattened. Nothing except the body that squeezes on the seat, the heart that reaches your throat and the euphoria, of course. Along the not perfect roads of a fresh and windy Rome, there is time to test the stability and handling of the second model of the Audi e-tron range in traffic along the Tiber, on the ring road or along the hairpin bends that lead to the Janiculum hill. And then, again, outside the Eternal City, on the highway towards the province, to let the driver assistance systems make the car sail at 130 per hour with minimum consumption, but also to whisk the 95 battery kWh of the version 55 quattro under test and its over 440 kilometers of autonomy.
There is also time to learn something: after the initial euphoria, after the inevitable fascination typical of an engine that in Boost mode serves 408 horsepower on the asphalt without the slightest hesitation, the moment of repentance arrives. Nice to run and shoot, but with electric propulsion the real taste to drive by subtraction, to learn to think about roads, paths, even trajectories in order to consume less, but also and above all to recover energy during release and braking. Because not only the propulsion, but also the driving style must be green.
