Athletics, New York Marathon canceled: it would have been the 50th edition


NEW YORK – There will not be, at least this year, the fiftieth edition of the New York marathon, the largest in the world.The race was canceled due to the coronavirus. A measure necessary for the great crowding that determines the event: every year about 50,000 runners, 10,000 volunteers and a million fans are attracted along the city streets.
It is the second time it is canceled: the first in 2012 due to Hurricane Sandy. The organizers have ensured a refund or possibly the opportunity to take advantage of the registration for one of the next edition.And shortly after the announcement by the US organizers, another appointment, this time in Europe, also raises the white flag. The Berlin Marathon has also been canceled.
