After the Nintendo Switch releases in June 2020, the month of July is preparing to bring an interesting selection of productions to the console of the Kyoto House. Obviously, the new chapter of the beloved Paper Mario series is underlined, with the imminent publication of Paper Mario: The Origami King, exclusive to Nintendo Switch.

The Big N console also welcomes the return of Special Agent Morgan, with the release of Deadly Premonition 2: A Blessing in Disguise, and the reissue of the acclaimed 2011 Atlus puzzle game, starring Catherine: Full Body. There is also no shortage of interesting independent productions, from The Great Perhaps to CrossCode, and new multi-platforms, such as Fairy Tail. The Wanderer: Frankestein’s Creature

Mary Shelley’s novel comes to life in a videogame key, in a suggestive graphic adventure in which the player can freely play the role of the Creature. The Wanderer: Frankestein’s Creature flaunts a setting inspired by 19th century paintings, whose shades change as the protagonist’s feelings evolve. To complete the picture we also find an engaging soundtrack aimed at accompanying the progress of the narration.

Once in contact with human beings, Dr. Frankestein’s Creature will see an inner search process begin, which the player will be able to shape and direct thanks to his choices, capable of leading to multiple alternative endings.

Catherine Full Body

Already available on PlayStation 4, the revised and enlarged version of the original Catherine, released in 2011, now also arrives on Nintendo Switch, ready to put the player in the role of Vincent. Thirty-year-old engaged in a relationship with Katherine for five years, will see the balance of his existence crack in the face of the encounter with the seductive Catherine and, subsequently, with the innocent Rin. The thought of the two women increasingly populates the mind of the confused Vincent, who will have to try to make his way between essential doubts and moral dilemmas.

To complicate matters, a series of strange nocturnal phenomena that disturb the protagonist’s sleep. The night in fact sees Vincent busy going through puzzle game sections in an attempt to survive his dreams: the penalty for failure is death in the real world. With a wide selection of possible endings, Catherine: Full Body proposes an adventure with erotic tones, but also with strong symbolism.

Action RPG in 2D, CrossCode pays homage to the aesthetics of the 16-bit adventures of the SNES era, combining traditional role-playing elements with a frantic combat system, solving puzzles and a plot with a sci-fi atmosphere. The protagonist is called to explore a game world divided into 7 main macro-areas, among which are hidden secret areas, myriads of enemies and adrenaline boss fights.

The title promises an extensive amount of content, for an overall longevity that can be placed flexibly between 30 and even 80 hours.

Deadly Premonition 2 A Blessing in Disguise

Years after the debut of the first chapter, the Deadly Premonition series returns to the gaming market, exclusively on Nintendo Switch. The narrative plot of In Blessing in Disguise, it unfolds along two timelines: one placed five years before the original title and the second set nine years after those events. In the past, players will play the role of Special Agent Morgan, engaged in investigating a series of brutal murders that have troubled the apparent quiet of the town of Le Carré. In the present, however, Special Agent Davis will try to shed light on a case considered closed, but which hides disturbing background in itself.

Needless to say, the investigations will reveal secrets that have been buried too long, amid disturbing narrative turns that will make the true nature of the communities involved manifest.

Bloodstained Curse of the Moon 2

Koji igarashi and Inti Creates have unexpectedly announced a new collaboration aimed at creating Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2. TheTwo-dimensional action shaped with 8-bit graphics puts players in the shoes of Zangetsu, a swordsman from the Far East. During the course of his adventure, the protagonist will face multiple enemies in an attempt to reach and conquer a fortress populated by demons. Along the way, several allies await Zangetsu, some of which come directly from the original title.

To underline the presence in Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2 of a local cooperative mode designed for two players.

The Great Perhaps

A delicate story that features an astronaut. Returning to Earth, the latter finds his home planet marred by continuous natural disasters and submerged by the ruins of human society. Between puzzles and minigames, the goal will be to understand what happened, so as to restore a future in which human society can survive in peace.

With entirely handmade settings, The Great Perhaps focuses on a curated artistic sector, highlighted by a suggestive soundtrack and by the profound human events that populate the title.

Story of Seasons Friends of Mineral Town

For players looking for a relaxing experience, Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town offers itself as a life simulator related to country life. The same sad fate has gone to fate for other iconic companions of the Italian plumber, who will therefore find himself forced to try his hand at a rescue operation.

Between deserts and oceanic expanses, Mario is ready to face epic clashes against origami soldiers, who imprisoned the Mushroom Kingdom within the confines of mysterious paper tapes. To achieve the goal, the player will have to emerge victorious from epic tactical fights that will also see powerful bosses on the field.

From the Dreadlocks team, a 2D side-scrolling Action RPG arrives on Nintendo Switch, set in a universe with cyberpunk hues. A dystopian open world, in which the player takes the role of Dex, a young girl hunted by a ruthless organization interested in her special and mysterious skills. The title looks like a direct tribute to the progenitors of the cyberpunk genre and proposes a mature narrative with strong references to the neo-noir universe.

Along the alleys of the gloomy metropolis of Harbor Prime, Dex will be able to improvise herself a murderer, diplomat and hacker. Unlocking new skills and upgrades, the protagonist will engage in real-time combat and interactive dialogues, in a city with a playful structure comparable to a metroidvania.

Fairy Tail

Players will have the opportunity to enter a digital version of the City of Magnolia, ready to devote themselves to exploration, adventure and epic fights. With the aim of establishing itself as the most influential Guild in the world of Fairy Tail, the protagonists of the JRPG are ready to give battle to anyone who dares to challenge them.

After referrals related to the Coronavirus emergency, Koei Tecmo’s JRPG is now close to publication.
