The Ragusan teacher Marcella Giulia Pace, photographer for passion, is still in the center. His collage of astronomical photos captures the moment when the sun, moon, Venus and Mercury are topped with a green light and this exceptionality has led NASA to publish them as an image of the day in the section Green Flash. Giulia Pace was also the protagonist of a service on Tg1, of which we offer the video at the bottom of the article. The photographer took full advantage of the spring light to observe the 4 planets to capture this rare moment. Marcella Giulia Pace says: “I have dedicated the name of my site to Green Flash with the hope of enriching it with as many images as possible of this rare phenomenon. It happened and the Ragusa coast proved to be an exceptional location for observing this phenomenon. It took some time before I captured the Lunar Green Flash and then, that of Venus and Mercury. ” The photos were taken in Marina di Ragusa on March 18 (Sun), in Modica on May 8 (Moon) and May 24, 2020, on the occasion of the conjunction of Venus and Mercury. The US Space Agency’s “Astronomy Picture of the Day” provides each day a different image of our Universe accompanied by a brief explanation edited by astronomers Robert Nemiroff and Jerry Bonnell. Marcella Giulia Pace is in her third presence on the NASA website with her photos and has also had the TG1 showcase dedicated to her latest production in these days.
