There is a piece of Italy where the coronavirus pandemic is officially over. Trapani is the first truly covid free Italian province. After 28 days without new infections, the goal required by the World Health Organization, namely two entire 14-day incubation cycles of the virus, to declare the epidemic behind us, was hit. A goal that tomorrow should also reach the province of Crotone, today on its 27th day without new positives.

In Sicily zero infections, carried out after three months: “But beware of the Phase 2 of hospitals”

The monitoring of Infodata for The sun 24 hours therefore confirms that Sicily and Calabria, together with Sardinia are certainly among the regions that can face the summer with a good dose of optimism. In Calabria in the last four days there has been no positive in the whole region, in Sardinia by three and even Sicily showed zero infections on 23 May and then oscillated in recent days up to a maximum of 4 new positive swabs.

No, the virus hasn’t gotten better. But we expect it to do so

Yesterday 53 Italian provinces did not register any positive buffer. In Trapani, where the Covid hospital has already been dismantled, there is no longer any patient hospitalized for weeks. Only 14 people are still in the whole province still positive, in home isolation pending the buffer that sanctions their recovery. At zero altitude hospitalized in Sicily also the provinces of Agrigento and Ragusa.
