A 36-year-old gardener in Belgium bought the “Covid 19” personalized plate for his Mercedes SUV with the aim of keeping other cars at a distance of at least 1.5 meters. In recent days, photographs of the Mercedes with the Covid 19 plate had begun to circulate on social networks.


The vehicle registration service confirmed that it had received a request and had authorized the license plate, because it did not contain defamatory, racist or homophobic messages. A personalized plaque in Belgium costs 1,000 euros.


The Flemish newspaper Nieuwsblad he tracked down the owner, a 36-year-old man living in Wettern in Flanders, a gardener by profession, who wanted to give only the initials of the name (F.M.). “I wanted to refer to the fact that other cars have to keep a meter and a half away from my vehicle,” said F.M. to the Flemish newspaper: “Stay away from my car and keep your distance.”
