OnePlus has just released a update for its Launcher bringing it to version 4.4.7. The latest release implements a small but useful improvement to the Android window management system. As you can see from the images at the end of the article, the launcher now has one small icon for each open app, the title is centered on the window and the three dots in the column have been eliminated to access the menu.
Tapping the icon – whose small size allows you to view more programs than windows – you can quickly switch to another open app, while to access the menu just keep pressing on a window. All these news had been spotted for the first time on the version of the Launcher installed on the latest OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro, but from today it seems to be available for anyone.

The second novelty is a little more hidden and to activate it you will have to first enable developer settings (repeatedly pressing on “Build number” in Settings> About phone). After completing this step, just go to Settings> System> Developer Options and move the toggle “Activate free-form windows”. Now in the management menu of the open apps you will find the relative option that allows you to move any application freely in a small window.
However, this is an experimental feature and for the moment it is not possible to resize the windows, nor to have one above the other or one next to the other. In fact, its usefulness appears rather limited, but it is still a beginning. If you want to try the news you can download the latest version of OnePlus Launcher directly using the badge below.
