The electric car may be suitable for 13% of motorists

MONITORED TRIPS – A study carried out by Move, the laboratory of the Milan Polytechnic responsible for analyzing mobility, highlighted at 13% of motorists it would be better to make the transition to theelectric car. The study analyzed over 100 million trips of private vehicles, which were monitored for 12 months, underlining that the convenience of the battery-powered car occurs specifically when the user has the possibility of having a point of domestic recharging (can be installed either in the garage or in the condominium appliances), used to “fill up” at night.

FEW LONG TRIPS – On the front of theautonomy, the element that is often pointed out as limiting for the diffusion of battery-powered cars, it emerged that about half of private vehicles during the year hardly ever perform long trips, greater than 300 km, which is the average distance of an electricity. Of these motorists, about 20% could buy an electric car, without changing their travel habits and in eight years equalize the purchase costs (taking into consideration the free stamp, the state incentives, the cost of the energy and insurance).
