Tennis: Fognini operated on both ankles – La Stampa

Fabio Fognini is operated on both ankles today. The news, completely unexpected, was given by the same blue tennis player on his Twitter profile: “I have been suffering from a problem in my left ankle for about three and a half years – wrote Fognini -. I managed to manage it, but the problem also came to my right ankle in the past two years. ” This is why the player decided to have both limbs operated, considering that not even forced parking for the coronavirus helped improve the situation.

“The same problems arose again when I went back to training – Fognini pointed out -. I talked about it with my staff and in the end I decided to undergo an arthroscopic surgery on both ankles. I do operate in Italy, it is the right thing in this period of forced stop. I can’t wait to go back to playing, I know you will support me on this path. I embrace you. “

Recovery times are not yet known after the double surgery, nor therefore when Fognini will be able to resume the activity in view of a possible return to the races. It does not seem, however, to be a serious operation, even if only arthroscopy will better define the physical condition of the blue tennis player and therefore the recovery times. Meanwhile, the ATP tournaments are officially stopped until August 1st, then the new calendar should include the US Open August 24th to September 13th and the Roland Garros from September 20th to October 4th.
