RTJ 4 will be available for free for everyone: El-P said in a long post centered on the current protests and riots taking place in the United States of America.
They are before the eyes of all the images of the killing of George Floyd and the ensuing insurrection scenes across the United States that began in the victim’s city – Minneapolis, Minnesota – and spawned in Washington, New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Detroit and more.
Numerous exponents of the local rap scene are taking a position on this, who for the moment only on social networks, who already on the streets of their city – like J Cole a few hours ago – and who through speeches addressed to the demonstrators on live TV. This is the case with Killer Mike, 1/2 of Run the Jewels socially active for a long time against various plagues afflicting his country.
In front of the microphones of CBS 46 he wanted to send a precise message to his fellow citizens: do not put Atlanta on fire, but together we find a concrete way to change the system. Here is the whole speech:
Killer Mike’s words followed those of the other half of Run The Jewels, El-P, which in view of the forthcoming release of their fourth album, RTJ 4, meant that it will be made available to anyone for free, as well as with previous records:
“We have bangers that can help you not lose your head and smile and we have material that comes from the deepest meanders of our hearts. When RTJ4 is released on Friday, it will not only be on sale, but will be put into a free download for anyone who wants some music. For me this is the only way I really know how to contribute to human struggle and experience, as well as trying to be polite and aware. It is the only weapon in which I am truly trained and I am grateful to have it available. “

Both gestures have been appreciated by fans and not only. Many of these have also stated that they will still want to purchase the disk to support “some of the few high-level MCs left in the game“.
RTJ 4 – of which the tracklist is already available – is scheduled to be released on Friday 5 June and we can’t wait to listen to it, especially after hearing the short snippet published by Killer Mike shortly after George Floyd’s death:
“And’ til my voice goes from a shriek to whisper, ’I can’t breathe’
And you sit there in the house on couch and watch it on TV
The most you give’s a Twitter rant and call it a tragedy. “
Music can contribute in different ways and contexts, that of Run The Jewels is yet another proof.
RTJ4 about to arrive.
