Health Minister Roberto Speranza said that “at the moment there are no reasons” to postpone the reopening of travel between regions beyond 3 June. According to the latest decrees approved by the government to contain the coronavirus epidemic, travel between regions is prohibited until June 2, except for work or health reasons. The reopening of displacements between regions, the government had decided, would still have been conditioned by the progress of the infections and assessments by the Ministry of Health on the risks of a new spread of the coronavirus.

On Friday, after a meeting with the political forces of the majority, Speranza confirmed that the situation of the contagions should not prevent the reopening of the regional borders, adding however that other assessments will be made in the coming days. According to data released Friday by the Civil Protection, in the last 24 hours in Italy 516 new cases of contagion from coronavirus have been recorded, 354 of which in Lombardy.
