Renault has announced the cut of nearly 15,000 jobs

The car company Renault has announced the cut of around 14,600 jobs (out of the total 180,000 of the group), of which 4,600 in France and 10 thousand in the rest of the world, as part of a corporate restructuring plan to address the crisis in the sector, exacerbated by the drop in demand during the coronavirus emergency. The Renault group over the next three years aims to achieve savings of over 2 billion euros which should create the basis, according to the plan, to return to being competitive.

The plan, according to what is stated in the press release issued by the company, envisages “an improvement in efficiency and a reduction in plant costs” for approximately € 800 million and “the optimization of production” with savings expected of approximately 650 million. Renault plans to review its global production capacity from 4 million vehicles in 2019 to 3.3 million in 2024.
