The worldwide announcement arrived (strictly online) a few weeks ago and now the new family of Redmi Note 9 smartphones is ready to officially land on the Italian market, also taking advantage of the reopening to the public of the Mi Stores distributed throughout the national territory, occurred on May 18. “The Redmi Note 5, launched in our country in 2018, was the product that marked the arrival of the brand in Italy, the Note 7 series marked the breaking point in the mid-range, reaching to sell over 20 million units on a global scale, and now let’s take a new step forward “, explained Davide Lunardelli, Head of Marketing of Xiaomi, confirming how the new series is an answer to those who had doubts about the philosophy of the Chinese company, claiming its ability to offer products at affordable costs and with high technical characteristics.

Prices and sales channels
The Note 9 in fact enters the list starting from 199.99 euros and for its top configuration with 128 Gbytes of memory you need 229.99 euros; the older brother Note 9 Pro instead has an entrance price of 269.99 euros and goes to 299.99 for the more performing configuration. Both come in three different shades of color: Midnight Gray, Forest Green and Polar White for the basic model, Interstellar Gray, Tropical Green and Glacier White for the Pro. All products will be available online on the website, in the Mi Stores. authorized and in the main consumer electronics chains; the 64 Gbyte version of the Redmi Note 9 Pro will instead be available only in the e-commerce of Xiaomi and on Amazon.
Screen without notch and sensor for lateral impressions
The photographic sector, the battery with fast charge, the processor, the NFC connectivity and the display: these, according to the Italian managers of Xiaomi, are the strengths of the new family. The screen of the Note 9 Pro, in particular, is appreciated for the generosity of the available surface, 6.67 inches diagonal without notch, and the preciousness of the fingerprint sensor mounted laterally on the power button; the Redmi Note 9 instead sports a 6.53-inch DotDisplay with edges reduced to the minimum terms (the screen-to body ratio is 91%) protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 glass, an attribute that according to those directly involved is “far from it that discounted on a mid-range product “.
The photographic section: four rear cameras and slow motion selfies
A camera for every situation is the slogan that sums up the presence of as many as four sensors on board the new Note 9, starting from the ultra wide-angle 8 Megapixel camera that promises group shots or large subjects even up close. The main objective is 64 MP on the Note 9 Pro and 48 MP on the other two models of the series (which also includes the Note 9S) and the promise is of course that of very high definition images in all light conditions. To complete the rear camera, therefore, a 5 MP or 2 MP macro lens and a 2 MP depth sensor, designed to facilitate and improve close-up shots with bokeh effects. Also in the front, the Note 9 comes with thick photographic qualities for a mid-range device, see the in-display sensor that reaches 16 MP in the Pro version and 13 MP on the basic model. Last but not least, the slow motion selfie mode and the ability to record videos in 2.39: 1 format, the same commonly used for shooting movies.

Long battery life and high end performance
While exhibiting a slim design, the Redmi Note 9 mount a 5020 mAh battery that extends the autonomy of the phone, according to tests conducted in the company’s Chinese laboratories, up to two days with standard use (including voice, video and gaming ). For those who are always in a hurry it is certainly appreciated, for the Pro model, the plus of the 30W fast charge (the fastest of the Redmi Note series) which ensures full energy at 57% in just 30 minutes.
Snapdragon 720G up to 2.3GHz: when Xiaomi managers talk about high-end performance (referring in particular to the Pro model) they certainly refer to Qualcomm’s processor built with 8-nanometer process technology, which goes well with memory basic with a minimum cut of 4 Gbyte. The first hardware of the Note 9, however, is the MediaTek Helio G85 chipset, for the first time installed in a mid-range device. Both models are also equipped with NFC connectivity, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, an infrared blaster and a function (Document) that transforms the smartphone into a pocket scanner.

The new operating system is also coming: Miui 12 focuses on privacy
One of the peculiarities of the new Redmi Note 9, common to almost all the Xiaomi catalog, will materialize in the form of an update in a few weeks: Miui 12, the proprietary operating system based on Android, was officially announced a few days ago and is presented to users with advanced functions for the protection of privacy, new solutions for multitasking in the form of floating windows and the obvious promise of a more “realistic” user experience, ensured by the renewed interface design and the new nuanced animation system.
On the security front, in particular, Xiaomi has worked hard to allow users to access, at any time, information on how individual applications use permissions relating to location, contacts, call history and storage options. Just one click, in other words, and all app activities will be displayed in a clear and transparent way while flashing notifications in the status bar will signal when sensitive applications, camera and microphone in the first place, are running in the background. By clicking on the notification, you can immediately change the authorization settings and block any suspicious behavior at any time.
