PS5 backwards compatible with PS2, PS3 and PS4 games, according to a Turkish store

Backward compatibility will be one of the distinctive features of PlayStation 5. Sony explained that its next generation console will be able to run the “majority of the over 4000 titles in the PlayStation 4 catalog”.

To date, in any case, a list has not yet been disclosed with all the games that will be backwards compatible at the end of the year (and later). The only sure thing is that The Last of Us Part 2 will run on PS5 at launch without problems: this was confirmed by the president and CEO Jim Ryan himself, on the occasion of the announcement of the presentation event of the PS5 games.

It is therefore surprising to find that second a Turkish dealer called Hepsiburada, PlayStation 5 will be backwards compatible not only with PS4 games, but also with PS3 and PS2 games. Sony has never confirmed any of this, having always left games from older generations out of the equation. That Hepsiburada knows something that we don’t know? It is not known for sure, but in our opinion it is much more likely that the Turkish retailer was wrong, also because he writes that they will be backwards compatible all PS4, PS3 and PS2 games. Sony has made it clear that not even the PS4 ones will be compatible in their entirety …

Speaking of PS5, Jim Ryan has expressed his desire to develop exclusives compatible only with PlayStation 5. Of different opinion Microsoft, which will continue to create cross-gen exclusives for Xbox One and Xbox Series X.
