PopBari rescue, go-ahead from the Interbank Fund with 1.17 billion


BARI – Green light from the Interbank Deposit Protection Fund to the rescue and relaunch of Banca Popolare di Bari with an allocation of 1.17 billion euros, including the 364 already paid in advance while Mediocredito Centrale, which will take control of the Bari institution, will participate with 430 million.

The operation involves the transformation of the Popolare into a spa and the capital increase which must be approved by the shareholders’ meeting on 30 June.

The Interbank Deposit Protection Fund (Fitd) which groups 151 Italian banks and which will pay 1.17 billion to save Banca Popolare di Bari, will make a number of shares worth 30 million euros. This can be read in the note of the Fund.
