OnePlus is the Chinese company that has based much of its success and popularity on the philosophy of killer flagship, a philosophy characterized by valid devices at prices significantly lower than the competition. The same philosophy that for some years seems to have been shelved.
All this could change soon, assuming that the new mid-range OnePlus Z will arrive by the summer, and confirmed by the words of Pete Lau – the number 1 of OnePlus. In a recent interview with Fast Company, Pete Lau reported the will of go back to basics for OnePlus: this would consist of a massive investment in devices cheaper compared to the current top of the range marketed by the Chinese company.

Lau made no secret that the strategy will actually debut on the starting market from next summer with a new device, without directly mentioning OnePlus Z. The first market on which OnePlus will adopt the “return to origins” strategy will be the Indian, but Pete Lau has clearly stated that the will to expand with cheaper devices also in Europe by the end of 2020.
Lau’s interview also touched other topics besides smartphones, confirming OnePlus’ willingness to continue investing in the TV platform, currently available only in India, and in its first true wireless, the OnePlus Buds.
