The latest rumors concern two characteristics of the Mi Band 5: support for NFC technology and Alexa. As for the first aspect, European users will be disappointed: the NFC module will probably be present only in China, while for the European market we will have to wait for the next versions. Interesting, however, the support for Alexa: with the smart band it will be possible to control the smart devices in the home and interact directly with the voice assistant.
The characteristics of the Xiaomi Mi Band 4
The Mi Band has established itself in recent years as one of the most popular smart bracelets in the world. The reason is quite simple: low prices and excellent quality. And with the Mi Band 5 the policy will be the same: top of the range features and a low cost price.
The activity tracker should have a 1.2-inch color OLED display which will cover all the space available from the front. This will allow users to set animated wallpapers and to have even more information under control, starting from the steps and the distance covered. News also regarding the health aspect of one’s body: the heart rate sensor will also be able to measure the oxygenation of the blood, a parameter that became vital with the outbreak of the pandemic.
Bad news, however, regarding the presence of the NFC module. Initially it was thought that the version of the Mi Band 5 with support for NFC could also arrive in Europe, but it will not be so and will remain confined to China. So no digital payments, at least for the moment.
Finally, it is rumored that the support for Alexa, with the ability to control other smart devices in the house. There is no certainty, however. the presence of the microphone.
When Mi Band 5 comes out
Last year the Mi Band 4 it was launched in mid-June, but for this year Xiaomi is unlikely to meet the same deadline. As usual, the fault lies with the coronavirus: the Chinese company will probably launch the Mi Band 5 between August and September.
