Tax, when it is allowed not to pay taxes due to Covid

After the “Covid tax” practiced by some hairdressers and beauty salons, the “sanitization tax” imposed by various workshops for customers appears. To report it is the Codacons. «Complaints arrive from citizens of all Italy – explains the association – who brought their car to a workshop for the periodic service or for repairs or maintenance and were obliged to impose mandatory sanitation costs on cars, on average from 20 at 40 euros (see invoice attached with item “coronavirus sanification kit” from 16.40 euros + VAT), totally unjustified and illegitimate “.

Codacons: illegal practice

“This is a completely illegal practice, and against which we will present the necessary complaints to the Antitrust and Guardia di Finanza – explains the president Carlo Rienzi – There is no rule that obliges consumers to sanitize their car at the workshops, nor that constrains the coupons or repairs to the payment of “taxes” related to Covid ».

Confartigianato self-repair: no at additional costs

It is the same Confartigianato Autoriparazione, trade association of car repair shops, to stigmatize this practice. «We do not want to go for those who take advantage of it – explains Alessandro Angelone, president of Confartigianato self-repair – our line is not to apply additional costs to customers and to ensure free sanitation of the car through a spray on the contact areas such as seats, steering wheel , knobs and handbrake ». But not everyone moves on this line. And there are those who pass an ozone-based sanitization treatment that was practiced only at the customer’s request before Covid. “Each company does as it deems most appropriate – continues Angelone – but we can only criticize the mandatory nature of a sanitization treatment that should only be at the discretion of the customer”.
