The remastered versions of Mafia have made a lot of talk in the past few days, especially in the case of Definitive Edition of the first chapter, a complete graphic remake with the Mafia III engine. The other Definitive Editions are less mind-boggling and it seems that Mafia II shows some difficulties on consoles.
In particular, it does not run native 4K on any console, i.e. PS4, PS4 Pro, Xbox One and Xbox One X. In addition, the frame rate is not stable and the game often drops below 20 frames per second. Not a truly rewarding result, considering that the game was originally released 10 years ago.
Mafia II: Definitive Edition resolutions on console
- Xbox One X: 3200×1800
- PS4 Pro: 2560 x 1440
- PS4: 1920 x 1080
- Xbox One S: 1200×900
Mafia II: Definitive Edition uses a dynamic resolution system: that is, the latter is changed according to the calculation resources and the complexity of the scene. Performance is variable and while Xbox One X manages to stay almost always at 30 fps, with sporadic drops to 20 fps, PS4 Pro the console that struggles more, falling below 20 fps in a greater number of cases compared to PS4 and Xbox One.
