Libya: Malta seizes 1 billion fake dinars – last hour


(ANSA) – VALLETTA, MAY 30 – The Maltese customs authorities
they seized a container in transit last Tuesday
Malta’s cargo hub, the result loaded with Libyan banknotes
false for a face value of 1.1 billion dinars, printed
in Russia by Goznak (a company controlled directly by the
governments) on behalf of an “illegitimate entity” and headed to
General Khalifa Haftar who fights against the government of
Tripoli recognized by the United Nations.
   The news was highlighted by a statement from the
US State Department, which “praised the government of
Malta “for the seizure of the cargo emphasizing that” the influx
of counterfeit Libyan currency printed in Russia has exacerbated
of the economic challenges in Libya. “That this week is
the second shipment intercepted in Malta.
