“Immune” is upon us: the Apple and Google App which is now in the hands of the health authorities and which aims to stem the possible contagion from Coronavirus, especially among asymptomatic.

The digital application chosen by the government is basically based on contact tracing and sending a contagion notification through the Bluetooth that will be, it should be stressed, “voluntary, anonymous and respectful of privacy”. The virus diagnostic system then goes through the technology and this has led to the outrage of a large part of the population who felt cornered controlled by a government that, according to those who like to feel victims always and in any case, acts in the interest of curbing the freedom of citizens and locking them up in walls of terror.

That search for rottenness, of which we have already spoken, is revealed once again forcefully: the amazement of those who cry out for respect for privacy it probably does not go hand in hand with the knowledge of the laws that regulate the matter because, if so, all those who systematically refuse to look at “Immune” as an innovative attempt to secure people should have no account at all social networks and it seems obvious to me that this is not so.

Privacy in social networks is “the right, protected and guaranteed by the user who uses these internet applications, to check that the information is treated in compliance with the rules that regulate it and, in particular, in respect of the self-determination of the individual to their diffusion and, at the same time, to the control of news concerning him “. It goes without saying that our disproportionate overexposure on social networks it can seriously endanger our security.

If it is true that in most cases, if not always, the privacy notices that appear on the screen of our pc are disturbing elements that pop up without paying attention, it is equally true that the application of these rules to the virtual world meets important problems as the network poses serious difficulties in the implementation of forms of control.

The striking example is Facebook which presents many risks with regards to confidentiality of users as, to name one, at the time of registration, the name is indexed, automatically and without consent, in the external search engines to the social network by making personal data visible to third parties. Furthermore, with the cancellation of the account, the deletion of data relating to it, which remains on the server for a period, is not immediate undetermined.

This is to say that, daily, we let the world know what we eat for breakfast, our most intimate habits, the color of our socks, showing photos that it would be better to leave in the drawer of memories forever, with the eager goal of reaching more people possible, voluntarily throwing us into the meal to the greatest number of users without any objection, but it is now known that “shouting to plot”Became the favorite sport of many during this quarantine.

As far as “Immune” is concerned, on the other hand, it has already been stated that in no case can information relating to the geolocation of the subjects and the collection of data will be limited to those strictly necessary to contain the spread of the virus.

What then caused all the sensation that this App has caused? Ever since we became fanatics of privacy? Probably the craving for protagonism once again made us out of place, imprisoning us in that childish dichotomy “if they tell me to do it / then I don’t.”

So yes looking for partner on Tinder within a radius of one kilometer from home but not to the App that tries to arrive before a virus that is bringing the world to its knees because, for Italians, occasional sex apparently matters more than health of an entire nation.

we need you.

In these weeks of pandemic we journalists, if we do our job with conscience,
we do a public service. This is also why we are proud every day here at ilfattoquotidiano.it
to offer hundreds of new content for free to all citizens: news, exclusive insights,
expert interviews, surveys, videos and much more. All this work, however, has a great economic cost.
Advertising, in a time when the economy is stagnant, offers limited revenues.
Not in line with the access boom. This is why I ask those who read these lines to support us.
To give us a minimum contribution, equal to the price of a cappuccino per week,
                        fundamental for our work.

But now we are the ones who need you.
Because our work has a cost.
We are proud to be able to offer hundreds of new content every day for free to all citizens.
But advertising, in a time when the economy is stagnant, offers limited revenues.
Not in line with the boom in access to ilfattoquotidiano.it.
For this reason I ask you to support us, with a minimum contribution, equal to the price of a cappuccino per week.
A small but fundamental sum for our work. Help us out!
